Some tips for dealing with life-changing moves, not necessarily geographic

Have you felt like the grass is greener on the other side? Or do you feel like it is time to move to a new city, country or change jobs?

Whether it is to find a better quality of life for a family, escape a toxic or stressful work environment or to better align with values, the drivers for a move are numerous. Especially after working from home and having too many ‘blahs’ moments.I took a big risk when I moved to Canada from Mauritius in 2020.

I tackled a few major fears : not finding a job, not making friends, losing my old friends, not adapting, not finding a house, losing my identity, losing all my savings, fear of dying (do not ask, humans are irrational creatures) but above all the fear of trying and not making it.

I know many people who contemplated a change of life, geographically speaking but never did it . They are plagued by what-if scenarios and other people’s failed experiences.

They do not want to go through the motions of adapting to a new environment because it seems like a lot of work. But in life, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.

Some people give up in their heads and wake up years later, saying I wish I had done that. I
