4 Lessons From 175 flights Taken

Reflecting on flying as I onboard my 175th flight

I am currently writing this while in transit at Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport. I just went through a 11hour plus flight to get here. Luckily I had 3 seats all to myself and managed to sleep, a whole 7 hours.

For most people, a 11 plus hour flight followed by a 7 hour flight is painful and tiring. For me, it is a means to an end, which brings me to my first lesson:

1. Flying is not necessarily enjoyable

Unless you are in first-class or some business class, flying will not be a pleasant experience. For most of us commoners, it will be a mixture of chaos from the other passengers or cabin-induced anxiety.

Nowadays, because of pandemic restrictions, flying requires tons of paperwork as if you are being vetted for a job.

But atleast for me, I always look forward to the destination. Think of it as a necessary journey to the place to be discovered. The place that is going to turn you into a story teller.

2. Practice makes perfect

Flying protocols always keep changing. But you will note a seasoned traveler from miles away. Usually he is being beckoned on final calls or walking around leisurely…
