5 benefits of personal development: self-help is exactly what we need right now
Self-help has received negative press, but the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion
I recall a conversation with one of my younger friends who always sought advice from me:
“Shev, how do I improve myself? She would ask.
Then I would suggest a book I was reading, and the response would be: oh you know, I do not believe in self-help.
End of conversation.

Perhaps it is the act of helping oneself which is dismissive. Afterall, we are social creatures who thrive on inter-dependence and cooperation.
Personal development is not a bunch a self-absorbed individual competing to see who has better abs at the gym.
The basis of personal development is evolutionary. We become better, which in turns impact people which in turn benefit society. Moving the world forward.
Personal development is healing your traumas so that the person in your relationship does not have to bear the brunt of your traumas.
