5 Signs You Were Not Cut Out For A 9–5
First of all, let me just say, working 40 hours a week is not a natural God-given gift. We take as truth what has been perpetuated by a human invention during the industrial age.
However, there are some people that do better at it. At least, that is what I have observed during my fourteen-year corporate career. Some cope really well as they like the structure and stability that comes with it.
Some despise it and quit as soon as they realise it. Some, like me, are on the fence and forever confused. So let’s go through some of my triggers during the years:
1. You feel trapped
This is the most important factor, in my opinion, and one that is easily brushed off. Feelings are easily dismissed as we try to rationalise how much we need a job to pay our bills and survive.
You feel like imaginary shackles have been placed on you and restrict your movements. Come Sunday afternoon, that feeling becomes more intense and you dread what is coming.
It is like you are giving away 40 hours of your life (or more) and every Sunday you have to mentally prepare yourself to go to a fictional prison for a certain number of hours.
