New year, new goals. Or old goals that have been carried forward. Like vacation days we could not use because travel plans got cancelled. There are many ways to fail at reaching objectives but there are a few important ones that I see time and time again:

1. The COVID excuse

I am the first one to acknowledge the mental impact of the pandemic on all of us. I have also talked about toxic positivity and harmful effects of denying emotions.

But COVID has also become synonymous with excuses. We start using it as a prefix for things that did not go our way. One example:

COVID weight. You let yourself go. It’s totally fine. But did you at any point realise it and work on it? Or did the COVID weight pile on going two years?

There are also people who took this opportunity to work on their fitness and health transformation.

Stop saying I cannot do this because of the situation. Start saying how can I course correct or realign my goals and adapt to current circumstances.

2. Unrealistic time frames
