An Ode To Freedom
The more I experience life, the more I am convinced that freedom is the most priceless abstraction in this life and somethingg we should relentlessly pursue, instead of chasing happiness.
When we are born, we are already given a name, a religion, a nationality. Slowly, we are then imprinted with a set of beliefs and a set of goals.
We sometimes spend our whole lives trying to meet those expectations, thinking they were ours all along.
In the process, we start engaging in all sorts of commitments: financial, emotional, professional. The job provides us with financial security but sometimes we lose part of ourselves in the process.
We compensate with materialistic gains, because if we cannot prove to ourselves internally that we made it, at least the world should know.
In conjuring this image to society, our financial commitments grow and somewhere the freedom to provide anything of value slowly fades.
In the desire to fit in and enjoy human gregariousness, we stifle the freedom to speak our mind and the freedom to express the emotions we truly feel.
God forbid, we will offend someone or appear too vulnerable. The choice given to be a man of success has blinded us to the fact that we sold our freedom, sunken dreams and time lost.
We are led to believe that we r the master of our destiny but how far is that true, I dnt know. All I know is there are far more things in our control than we chose to believe.
All it requires is a massive lot of courage and the desire to try and fail and try again. Embracing that is true freedom….personal opinion obviously :)
