Being rich does not equal being wealthy: 5 strategies to start building your wealth
A high monthly income does not make us wealthy if we are time-bound and health poor
I recall a conversation with one of my ex-colleagues. She was ambitious and career-driven (note they are not exactly the same thing) and also one of those willing to do anything to climb up the corporate ladder (including crush the juniors to get the work done on time). She often talked to us about her husband taking the company’s private jet or how some relatives have a private box for hockey games. We often had to stifle a yawn, at least I did.
She worked tremendously hard and honestly, was not a nice person to be around. One day, she mentioned how the boss called her at 7 am. It was like a proud moment for her but masked by exasperation. I joked about how I have the do not disturb on till 8 am. And I got one of those looks which meant, you would not get far here with that attitude. So, on certain days, she worked from 7am to 10 pm. I am assuming she lunches at her desk as she responds to queries at any hour of any day, even on holidays. If I was her and got invited to the family’s hockey box, I will probably bring a pillow and sleep in the box. Her husband works similarly hours according to the endless unsolicited stories.
