By nature, humans are strivers. We are always seeking the next best option, that is how we claimed superiority over the animal kingdom.

We are relentless in our quest to innovate and to make our own perfect world.

Some of have more perfectionist tendencies than others, some of us also seek therapy because it gets too much.

Perfectionism influenced by Society

I am a recovering perfectionist. But mine does not require therapy. Mine needs unlaying years of conditioning.

First at school : be perfect. Perform under pressure at exam. Practice making no mistakes so that you get perfect grades so that you do not become a failure later in life.

Then at the office : show us excellence. Prove to us that you are worthy of us hiring you. Do your best but do your best quickly. Do not worry, it will get better with experience.

So, you leave all good judgements aside and embark on a journey to…..burn-out.

It is not only do more but do more…perfectly and quicker.
