Goal setting can get you out of a rut and 7 other benefits
Triggering change and providing momentum for that self-improvement boost
Helping people set goals and achieve them is my purpose in life. Yet so many of us avoid the word goal like the plague. One of my coachees told me, she cannot deal with the word goal as it feels stressful.
I asked her what exactly she is aiming for . She said inner peace. How about we call it the achievement of your well-being then?
That worked beautifully.
Talking or setting goals can feel dry, like achieving sales target or meeting certain criteria for your next promotion.
Goals remind us of extra work to be done, after hours. Extra energy that we do not necessarily have, after the daily duties have been performed.
But goals can be re-energizing, empowering and provide us with that motivation that we actually need:
1. Evaluation of your life
They allow you to assess the state of your life. You take stock of where you are and if you need to move the needle. It identifies any frustrations or resentment you are feeling. It can help you decide if you are stuck or deep in your comfort zone.
