How To Feel Worthy Of Happiness

Could this be the block to our success?

Most of my friends have studied abroad and we go home regularly to see our folks.

Yet, when we want to share good news or our achievements, there is almost a sense that we should not dwell on it and be eternally grateful for the ….luck.

Pay respect to the god for whatever they (referring to hinduism being a polytheist religion) have mercifully agreed to bless us with and also be eternally in debt for not letting any calamity befall us.

Jeez, thanks universe for pulling those all-nighters so that I could get an education.

As one of my friend says: “it is like they will be there to support us through every trial and tribution and help us through our pain. As if we are deserving of suffering and any happiness should not be felt for too long because it will be taken away.”

In essence, happiness is fleeting and pain forever.

The belief that we are not worthy of happiness goes deep: to our upbringing, our parents’ upbringing, generational programming, society’s conditioning.

We have made it a point to chase happiness when we could just be happy in the here and the now.
