I started writing a post on how to find motivation and I had to pause as I had booked a slot at an indoor skating rink. Can I skate? Not yet.

Yet I stopped writing, got ready, took my helmet and went out in the Montreal cold. There was no overthinking, only excitement.

And I knew what was coming. I tried it once last year. It was not a catastrosphic attempt (but did not go too well either).

But I started to wonder, what is it that made me put my numerous layers that would put an onion to shame on? What is it that made me go out in the cold and dark streets of Montreal at 4pm?

To stand on what seemed to any beginner as two pieces of long, sharp blades and wobble and look like a fool? What is it that made is totally ok to potentially fall flat on my face?

I could not come up with an answer, I thought vaguely, it must be the eagerness for growth and learn something new. Afterall I walk my talk as a personal growth coach. I kept thinking about it on the way to the rink. Could it be because I love watching figure skating as a sport?

I got the answer once I got to the rink. I found beginners like me, we talked and bonded on our common fears.
