How To Market Yourself Without Feeling Like You Are Selling Your Soul
Selling and salesmanship have gathered such a bad rep.
Either because we find it against our own nature or people who engage in those acts have been unscrupulous or fell short, for us.
Most people I know would do better with a bit of self-promotion but they dismiss selling as inauthentic.
They have resigned themselves to saying: “ I am good on the technical side, I am not a people’s person.”
There are a few ways we can go about addressing this issue which many people have:
A change in mindset
Selling is not just discussing the merits of any product or service. That could be the role of a full-time salesman.
But we have to remember that we are promoting ourselves at various stages of our lives.
Think of babies.
Babies act cute and innocence and get adult protection. They do not think about being adorable, they just are. In the same way, you do not have to promote who you are, it speaks for itself.
As teens, we promote our potential to our parents and teachers so that they support us to the next phase of our lives.
