I used to know too many things about too many things: switching jobs, exploring cultures, meeting people and above all copious amounts of reading.

By nature, intellectually curious people are drawn to ‘knowing’. It feels good.

I came to a point where I had decision paralysis, do I pursue this or that? I was a consumer of knowledge, yet I had no idea how to monetize any of it.

Then somebody offered me a job as a consultant, a corporate finance consultant to be exact.

That was when I started discovering the value of consulting. In effect, I was not hired because of my knowlege in corporate finance but because I could apply it to my home country where they wanted to set camp.

A consultant solves problems by bringing expertise and solutions, not only knowledge.

The different between consulting and coaching

Consulting is providing answers to problems. In effect, there might be some kind of deliverables involved, either a strategy plan or bullet points of to-do or even an analysis with recommendations.
