We live in a knowledge economy where we are all encouraged to learn more. The more you know, the better. It sets the path to success: in your job, in conversations, and in life.

It is also true that our world is overflowing with information. It is overwhelming and we do not know where to focus anymore.

And it will keep coming at us, the information overload is real. The ideal way to deal with it is to unlearn some of the things that we know to have the energy bandwidth for more.

Change your mind

In his book Think Again, famous occupational psychologist Adam Grant, defies the mainstream definition of intelligence.

He mentions that being able to rethink and unlearn is becoming a crucial cognitive skill in a rapidly changing world.

Yet, it is so hard for us to change our minds or go back on what we said. We think it makes us fickle because we change our minds.

But we could also look at it as an evolution in our thinking. It shows vulnerability and an open mind.

We have values that we stick to but we also possess an expansive mind that can entertain different views on a subject. What is gold today is obsolete tomorrow.
