Not caring about other people’s opinions is a skill that keeps on giving

Have you seen those Instagram pictures where someone has a cigarette in their hand, giving attitude and exuding a mixture of arrogance and confidence? Hashtag I do not care what others think about me and that is the way to be.

Not caring about other people’s opinions is a skill to be mastered. And it can be taught. It can be learnt. Too often, people tell me, you are so lucky that you do not care what people think. As if I was born with a special gene.

But I do care. Everybody else does too. We are humans and want to present our best self, to our loved ones, to society, to our superiors. The difference between me and probably those other people is that I do not dwell on it. I acknowledge what they think and feel sorry that I might be causing concern to people but then I do me. I focus on my mission.

Yesterday, I deviated from my usual writing topics and wrote an article about my dating experience. I wrote it because I wanted to express myself on the moment and wanted to find people who could relate. If I had to think that is not what I usually write about (my journey, life lessons, personal development), I would never have posted it. I thought about my own views being a…
