A Letter To Myself On My Failed Journey

14 months into my solopreneurship journey, I am going back to employment. I am not giving up on my purpose and projects, but they will be done on the side.

I quit my job in December 2021 to start coaching full-time. 2022 was the first year I was a full-time solopreneur after 13 years as an employee. I lived my dream but it was a short one.

I started my Medium journey around the same time, promising myself that I would be honest about the journey. After seeing so many ‘ I quit my 9 to 5 for my dream life’ articles, I had high hopes. For me, it turned out to be short and sweet.

Dear Solopreuneur Me,

You failed in this mission but you are not a failure. I know you feel like you are betraying part of yourself right now. That part that wanted to start her own thing, that wanted to be her own boss after 13 years of building that dream in her head.

It must be hard going back to the old life, knowing you vowed to live differently for the rest of your life. I am also aware that saying platitudes like failures bring lessons is not going to help soothe the hurt.

But there are a few things that you need to remember, everytime your heart goes heavy…
