Stop New Year’s resolutions hate, you need something to look forward to
The entry into 2022 is dark and morbid, change it to hope and meaning
The Province of Quebec recently slashed our last hope for a New Year gathering. The panic in rising cases have caused the authorities to close everything down, from restaurants to shopping centres.
If you thought 2020 was bad, the ending of 2021 is a shock to the system. It is nothing short of emotional blackmail with no one in particular to blame. I could start whining about the government, pangolins, freezing temperatures.
Instead I am focusing on next year and how I can work on things in my control.
How to look forward to tomorrow when the world has gone back to despair? Goals. To be better, to improve, to learn new skills, to aspire to a better future.
You are thinking, what is the point, there will be a new variant and it will cause upheaval again. I am not asking you to have expectations from anything else. Just yourself.
There are still many things you can work on: your fitness, your new business, a new language, a new skill.
Call it the momentum of a change in date but there is something about the first of January that provides an extra dose of drive.
