Thank You To My 1,000 Readers

To touch someone’s heart with words is the greatest gift for an amateur writer

On a gloomy Monday morning, I was having mitigated feelings about the falling temperature, I knew I was done with the scorching heat of the past week but I could not fully embrace the fact that cold winter days are coming. But when I logged onto Medium, a sense of happiness washed over me. I reached 1,000 people!

While it is not about the number of followers, after all, it is just a vanity metric that will definitely not put bread on my table but satisfy my ego for a few seconds, I was overjoyed by the fact that more than one person would be reading me somewhere…anywhere.

Call me whimsical but I truly believe that readers and writers form part of each other’s lives. When we dive into a book, we have entered the author’s mind.

Can I call myself a writer now? Anyone who loves to write knows first-hand the anxiety that comes with taking the first step towards their passion. And I mean that whether you want to take writing as a full-time career, a side hustle or just a blog to build a community of like-minded people.

I am grateful to anyone who has ever commented, highlighted or liked my posts (not to the bots though, go away). See, as much as online writing is…
