The great resignation is real but we still deserve so much more from the corporate world
Insane profits camouflaged by superficial employee perks that we do not need.
There are real losers in this pandemic; people who have lost their jobs, parents taking care of kids 24/7, some small businesses. Also there are real winners. Businesses whose bottomline got a huge boost, especially due to the population moving indoors. I worked in finance so I can vouch for the fact that the profits have been staggering for some.
Behind the great resignation is also the fact that there simply more demand for manpower and employees have the choice between employers. While we may think we have the upper hand, the fact is businesses are hiring because they have made 1000x profits and need the extra help. You might think it is a win-win situation but the employers still win. Inspite of the fact that you think you had a good year because you are being courted by recruiters, I would hate to burst your bubble. You still deserve more.
Many companies made millions but played the waiting game. What are the others going to do? Let’s wait and find out. Or let us sit tight and keep overutilising our staff until they complain. And voice out we did. Because they got better options; compassionate leave, extra days off, full remote work. Unfortunately we are still…
