The World Hates Single People, Let’s Face It

Is being part of a double still a badge of honour?

I am straying from my usual pep-talk type writing today because I had a ‘semi-rant semi-opinion’ thought.

I always knew that the world was not made for singles. See I have been single longer than I have been in relationships but I was happy being in both statuses.

So I am not one of those belittling relationships or love.

During my single phases, whether in Mauritius, UK, France or Canada, there was always that feeling. I brushed it off because I could not put a finger on it. (or I started dating again, you know what they say:blind in love).

Until I did….it is called malaise.

The way I can describe it now is: being invited to a party, then the hosts start to make you feel uncomfortable so that it is your cue to leave.

But in this circumstance, where do we go? In hiding? I refuse.

The backstory

Yesterday , in a packed coffee shop, I managed to get a tiny space in the corner, one where you make yourself small in wait for a seat to free up.

A woman comes up to me and said: “hey I am leaving, would you like my spot?”. So generous.
