To Write Your Masterpiece, Write Stupidly
All writers have come to that point where they are staring at a blank document and nothing comes to mind.
All the fleeting ideas that have popped up earlier somehow vanished.
Let’s put an idea on paper. Nothing comes up.
The problem here is we are trying to write smart things. It is in our human nature to come up with perfect sentences, perfect proses and perfect sayings.
There is nothing wrong with trying to come up with a life-changing, ground-breaking or game changing sentence.
Except to write that particular line we sometimes have to write hundreds of lines of …mundanity.
But we would rather be stuck and waste time, waiting for the masterpiece to come out. We are convinced it is there somewhere in our heads.
We just need the perfect moment, where it is all going to come together and just pour out of us.
What we do not grasp here is that perfect idea or sentence we are so eagerly waiting for is not in our heads. Not yet. It will only form after the hundreds or thousands line that we are not proud of.
